They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green and they never stop producing fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7 & 8

The incredible promise of these verses is a treasure chest of peace as we enter a new year. Whatever the months ahead hold for us as individuals, as a nation, or even on the world stage of events, this promise is a sure place to set your heart.

Soaking up the peace and confidence of full trust in our Lord keeps us in a place of productivity, fruitfulness and hope no matter what goes on around us.

As you walk through this coming January make this promise your own. Determine to put your roots down deep into the fresh supply of His living water every day. Be intentional about time in God’s presence listening to worship music, reading His word and bringing your thanksgiving into His throne room as you bring your requests to Him.

Enjoy the Lord this year as you never have before and experience the lush green of walking together with Him.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.” Proverbs 3: 5 & 6

January is a time when we look ahead and plan into a new year. Sometimes the way is exciting and clear. Other times it may be foggy and uncertain.

God’s word gives us sure footing as we stand on the threshold of a new day. Every single morning His call to us is to trust Him with our day. He will direct our paths one step at a time.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart
 and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will direct your path.”
Proverbs 3: 5 & 6

These verses go on to encourage us not to be wise in our own eyes and to walk in ways pleasing to God. The promise of this kind of trust even aids our health as confidence in God will even reduce our stress.

Acknowledging Him in every step and every decision is a wise way to live.

Heavenly Father, Today I want to declare my trust in You and in Your divine ability to guide my pathway. When I don’t know which way to turn I know You can direct me. Forgive me when I do my own best thinking about solutions and directions without acknowledging Your love for me and Your desire to direct me. Right now I do acknowledge that You alone know what is best. You alone can see around each blind corner and You alone can show me just what steps to take. Thank you for Your steadfast love and Your sure direction in my life. I love You, Lord and I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.

In the Bible, God says,

“I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will watch over you.”

What a promise!

Starla prayed God would show her whether she should be a missionary. When she travelled on a short mission trip, she grew scared. She thought if she made the long-term commitment, would she ever see her family again? Would she die out here alone?

Then as she walked with some tribal children, she sang the chorus, “The Savior is waiting to enter your heart. Why don’t you let Him come in?” That was it! She realized these children needed to hear about the Savior, Jesus! She wept and thanked God for His direction. Peace replaced fear. And thirty years later, she’s still seeing God using her and her husband to help reach the world for Jesus.

Friend, trust God to guide you!

Psalm 32:8 (NLT) The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”
