“O taste and see that the Lord is good…” Psalm 34:8
“The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him…”
Psalm 37:23
Pastor and author Rick Warren has motivated untold numbers of individuals and churches to consider the impact a Christian, and group of Christians, can have by living in light of eternity. He writes, “(If) you will start living in the light of eternity, that will color how you handle every relationship, task, and circumstance.”
But sometimes the challenge of living an entire life with wholehearted purpose is just too big for us to grasp. Our desire is honest, we truly want to make a difference for God, but with all the demands of our lives, as well as the frailty of our faith, we are tempted to give up before beginning.
But what would happen if we asked God to give us grace sufficient to live one purpose driven morning? Just four hours. Warren writes that “(God) wants to be included in every activity, every conversation, every problem, and even every thought…”
Without eating an entire meal of purpose driven living, how about just a taste of that life? Without determining to run a purposeful marathon, why not begin with just a few steps? The amazing promise is that …he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
