“For the angel of the Lord guards and rescues all who reverence Him” (Psalm 34:7).
For many years, my travels have taken me across continents — to scores of countries every year. I have faced danger more than once. But I always had peace in my heart. I knew the Lord was with me and that His guardian angels surrounded me.
In Pakistan, political upheaval had gripped the country. I finished a series of meetings in Lahore and headed to the train station. I had no idea what was coming. An angry crowd of thousands was marching toward the station to destroy it with cocktail bombs.
The railway director rushed us onto the train and locked us in our compartments. He told us not to open our doors under any circumstances — unless we knew the person knocking. The trip to Karachi would take over 24 hours. I used that time to finish rewriting my book Come Help Change the World.
I put on my pajamas, got into my berth, and started reading and writing. I had no idea what had happened behind us. Only when we reached Karachi — 28 hours later — did I learn the truth.
The train ahead of ours had been burned. Rioting students lay on the track and refused to move. The train ran over them. In revenge, the mob burned that train and killed the officials on board.
We were the next train. The mob was ready to do the same to us. But God went before us. Nothing happened. We arrived in Karachi to find that martial law had been declared and the streets were calm. A Red Cross van took us to our hotel. God kept protecting us there too. When the violence ended, we caught a plane out of Karachi to Europe.
Whether in a train or wherever you are, God guards and rescues those people who reverence Him.
Today, you can know for certain that God will send His guardian angels to guard you. Simply yield your life to Him. Ask Him to come into your life and forgive your sins. Here is a prayer you can pray:
Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.
