Boomerang Blessings

By admin

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.   Proverbs 11:25

Our family has always enjoyed serving others, and we intentionally seek opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Whether it has been serving in a soup kitchen in New York City, Rhode Island, Maui, or San Antonio, or traveling on a mission trip to share the hope of Christ, these experiences are among the most meaningful moments of our lives.

Serving others is not simply meeting a physical need; it is about showing people the love of Jesus in a tangible way. A warm meal, a listening ear, prayer, or a kind smile can remind someone that they’re seen, valued, and deeply loved by God. Through these opportunities, we have learned that evangelism is not only about sharing the gospel with our words, but also about living out the gospel through our actions.

One of the greatest lessons we have learned is the “boomerang blessing” of serving. We often think about what we can give, but we are amazed by how much the Holy Spirit gives back to us and transforms us through giving. Today’s passage reminds us that when we refresh others, God faithfully refreshes our own hearts. As we share Christ’s love, it is like a boomerang: when we send it out, God faithfully brings back blessings in ways we never expected, and we experience his presence in a more profound way.

Where is God inviting you to serve and share his love with others? He commands us in Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Jesus modeled this perfectly as he cared for the hungry, hurting, and those who felt forgotten.

While serving and blessing others, we have the privilege of reflecting Christ and opening doors for conversations about his goodness and grace. In the process, we discover the beautiful boomerang blessing of God’s kingdom; as we pour out his love to others, he faithfully refreshes and deepens our faith, and with us, with great joy.

Lord Jesus, thank you for the privilege of serving others and sharing your love. Open our eyes to see opportunities to advance your kingdom and help us to serve with joyful hearts. May our lives point others to the hope, grace, and love found in you. In Jesus ’ name, Amen.
