About Bill Strom
Bill Strom teaches human communication at Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia where he also serves as Associate Director of Faculty Development. He was first drawn to how people relate and influence each other while attending Wheaton College for a BA in speech communication. Following undergraduate school he served in India for six months which piqued interest in intercultural communication, and which served as a guiding theme for an MA in Communication Theory at Northern Illinois University and a PhD in Communication Research at the University of Iowa. More recently however his focus has been on how we develop virtuous relationships through communication. In addition to scholarly articles on relationships, Bill also authored More Than Talk: Communication Studies and the Christian Faith, an introductory look at the field from a faith perspective.
Bill and wife Shelaine are proud parents of three young adult sons, live in Abbotsford, B.C., and attend Ross Road Community Church. Bill has enjoyed serving on the elder board, teaching in kids’ ministry, and serving with a crisis and care ministry. In his spare time you might find him on long walks, biking, fishing, or watching the BC Lions and the Vancouver Canucks. Bill is a ventriloquist with friends “Archie,” “Snork,” and “Jerry” and enjoys ministering with kids and performing for adults with this craft.
