Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lotsLuke 23:34.

Christian DevotionalIt wasn’t until ten surgeries and fifteen years later that Janet discovered the truth.  The loss of the use of her legs was the result of doctor error, not congenital defect.

She was angry and struggled to deal with the lies.  Janet wanted God to heal her emotions.  Then she would be able to forgive.  Or so she thought.  But the hurt lingered.

Then Janet saw in Christ the perfect example of forgiveness:
In the middle of His mistreatment and pain on the cross, Christ spoke words of mercy.  He asked His Father to forgive those who hurt Him.

Finally, through that supreme example, Janet forgave those who had injured her.

Dear one, the healing power of forgiveness is beyond measure.  Follow Christ’s example to forgive.
