Whatever God does for you and me is without merit on our part and by pure grace on His part, and it is done for a purpose. God never gives to or benefits His children solely for their own selfish ends.

After all, his very act of coming meant exchanging heaven for a human life on earth. He deliberately chose simple environments, like a stable, to display the power of the Kingdom of God.
