In the Palm of God’s Hand

Published on April 7, 2018

But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.”  Isaiah 49:14-16

I spent a part of the week in the hospital for surgery. It was no big deal. What amazes me is all of the new surgical technology where doctors sit at a computer and direct a robot to do the work and everyone watches it on a big screen.

But what really caught my attention was in the admitting process where I put my hand on a small cradle and photographed the palm of my hand for purposes of identification. The lady in admitting explained that a palm print when fed into the right computer software is far more reliable than a finger print for identification.

As I placed my hand on the photo cradle, and saw it appear on a computer screen, I could only think of the word of Isaiah,

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands.”

Wow, God himself has noted me in the palm of His hand. Have you ever needed to make note of a phone number or some reminder and without any paper, written it in the palm of your hand so you won’t forget? I have and God has too!

God says

I will not forget you. I have carved you on the palm of My hand. I have called you by your name. You are mine. You are precious to Me. I love you.”
