To Humble Ourselves

Published on December 10, 2018

God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.1 Peter 5:5b

Humble people seem to be blessed with pervasively portioned patience, peace, perseverance and unpretentiousness.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.1 Peter 5:6

Humble people are also alert, affecting, attentive, affectionate, affable and not anxious.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” 1 Peter 5: 8-9

Humble people are strong, solid, steadfast, sincere, serving and unswerving.

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 5:10-11

My prayer for us

Heavenly Father, please help us to not be anxious about anything. In everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, we present our requests to you. We know that your peace, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus. Amen. Philippians 4:6-7
