Self-Righteousness

Published on July 8, 2018

Let’s not mince words… Rachel was prideful.  She read the Bible where people could see her.  She prayed, “Lord, I thank you that I’m not like other women.”  She attended church three times a week.  And was president of their women’s group.  Rachel was proud of everything she did for God.

Then one morning as she was reading, a bible passage almost shot off the page.  It was about two men:
One who proudly brought his good works for God to see.
And a tax collector who admitted his wrong and asked for mercy.

Jesus commented,
This tax man, not the other, went home made right with God.”
Rachel was stunned.  She asked to be forgiven of her pride.

Friend, there’s no “earning” God’s favor.
Admit you’re wrong and ask for His mercy.
