True Hope

Published on December 8, 2021

The message of Christmas is a call to look with fresh eyes at what Jesus brings to our lives every day!

Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my HOPE is in You all day long.” Psalm 25:4 & 5

True hope is so much more than wishing and hoping. It’s having a confident expectation!

“The world feels heavy these days”, a young mom commented to me. Even in this Christmas season when hearts are generous and loving, we sense a holding back as uncertainty weaves its way through our lives.

Yet the very message of Christmas is a message that can breathe HOPE into our hearts. The message of Christmas is a call to look with fresh eyes at what Jesus brings to our lives every day! It’s so much more than a warm story of a baby boy born in a stable. This Jesus who we celebrate at Christmas, is the the One who can bring HOPE to us every day, even all day.

  • Where is anxiousness pulling at you today?
  • Do you need God’s mighty power to move on your behalf?
  • Do you need His love to embrace you?
  • Do you need His wisdom to tame your thoughts and bring peace to your mind?

When Jesus’ birth was foretold in the early writings of the Bible, it was said that this One who would come would be called:

  • Wonderful Counsellor
  • Mighty God
  • Everlasting Father
  • Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

Every need you or I will encounter today can be encompassed and met through this Jesus. He offers us:

  • His wise counsel
  • His mighty power
  • His amazing love
  • His peace that passes understanding

This Advent ask Jesus to show you His ways and teach you His paths in a fresh way. They are paths of peace and wisdom, love and power, even as we weave our way through uncertainty. Our confident expectation can rightfully rest in Him who is our HOPE all day long.

PRAYER:

Lord God, Please guide me today. Thank you that I can put my confident expectation in Jesus to help me through the challenge of ——————–name it————————today.  Help me to see this season of Christmas with new eyes as I declare my hope is in You today. I need You. Help me to keep my eyes on You all day long as I await Your power to be at work in my circumstances. In Your strong name I pray, Amen.

What is one thing that is robbing your peace today?
Ask God to specifically show you His way through it and teach you His ways in it. Keep your eyes and heart open for His appearance and His wisdom.
