“But now this is what the LORD says,–“Fear not for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine” Isaiah 43:1
We phone a business and get an automated voice telling us to press #1 for English, press #2 for another language, press #3 for a certain option, press #4 to leave a message… In a busy office we’re instructed to pick a number, then to wait for our turn.
Now imagine you’re stepping into the presence of God almighty. Remember, He is the Sovereign God who runs the universe. He must be exceedingly busy, right? So it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a sign saying, “pick a number and wait for your turn.”
But no! I can see Him turning to you with a smile that says, “Well, come on in. I’ve been waiting for you! What took you so long?”
To our heavenly Father we’re not just a number; we are not put on a wait list. He sees us as a valued person, redeemed—bought back—from the enemy with the blood of Jesus; a precious child whom the Father loves dearly; for whom He fights; whom He defends; whom He cheers on. Why? “Because you are precious and honored in my sight and because I love you…But now this is what the LORD says—‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine,’” (Isaiah 43:1-4).
Imagine, He calls each one of us by name! Like a mother calls her precious child. Like a lover whispers the name of his beloved.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest,” Jesus invites. “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls”. This is not a general invitation, but a personal invitation with your name on it. Can you hear him call your name?
