“He that watches over you will not slumber . . . . He will neither slumber nor sleep” Psalm 121:3,4
I was alone. It was night and I was in a hospital ward after a four-hour back surgery. Even though I was on pain killers and heavily sedated from the anesthetic, I couldn’t sleep. I felt afraid.
Turning my head toward the small window in the room, I was surprised to see the full moon fill the window. It was big, beautiful, and bright, and so very comforting. I felt as if the Lord was saying to me, “Don’t be afraid, I am watching over you.” And He has been.
Today, two months after the surgery, the severe back pain I had for several years is gone. The pain from the surgery has also disappeared. I have more energy than I have had for years. Housework is a joy, and walking for exercise is wonderful. I feel like a new woman.
The power of prayer is so evident. The body of Christ showed their love and care through visits, phone calls, e-mails, meals, and flowers. We were overwhelmed by the show of love.
Thank You Lord, for watching over me and freeing me from pain. I will keep serving You as long as I am able.
